In the afternoon Telkom Knockout (TKO) Cup clash at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs overcame stubborn Cape Town City 4-2 on penalties in Cape Town.

The Citizens held to their Kermit Erasmus 34th minute wonder-goal lead for the most part of the remainder of the 90 minutes TKO game duration. Should they have capitalised on opportunities created, CT City could have wrapped up the match long before their fate was decided by dreadful penalties.

As destiny would have it, Amakhosi’s late 83rd minute weak volley by Samir Nirkovic dragged the TKO Cup duel on 1-1 to extra-time which did not make any difference to the scoreline. The match ended and Chiefs qualified to the next round or quarter-finals of the TKO.

In Pretoria, SuperSport United won 3-2 on penalties against Baroka FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday.

In a night fixture, SuperSport deadlocked 1-1 with Baroka after 120 minutes of play.

Baroka nearly surprised Matsatsantsa a Pitori away from home. The visitors got a headstart through Mduduzi Mdantsane penalty conversion on the 59min.

Stellies succumbed to pressure in the 84th minute when Thembinkosi Lorch launched a late winner for Buccaneers into the quarter finals of the Telkom Kock-out Cup, the only goal of the evening game.
