Polokwane City trash SuperSport and go top of the league

Polokwane City  3-1 SuperSport United

Polokwane City defeated a 10-man SuperSport United solid team at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium Saturday afternoon.

“Rise and Shine” (City) took the lead at home through a Nicholas Motloung’s 30th minute goal in the Absa Premiership tie.

“Matsatsantsa a Pitori” (SuperSport) had Onismor Bashera sent off in the first half of the game. Puleng Tlolane’s 77th minute goal made it 2-0 for City and Aubrey Modiba (88min.) halved the deficit to 2-1.

Salulani Phiri increased the tally to 3-1 right in the death (95min.), almost obliterating SuperSport’s chance to salvage a point away from home.

The Polokwane City are now the PSL leaders with three points on the table. Kaizer Chiefs are second with 10 points and travel to Amazulu on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 for a night fixture.

Other Absa Premiership afternoon fixtures:

Stellenbosch drew 2-2 with Black Leopards at Athlone Stadium.

Waseem Isaac’s goal [42min.] got the home team going in the first half. The other three goals came in the second half. Robert Gambi levelled matters on the 63rd minute and Isaacs’ restored the lead by netting his second of the afternoon in the 73rd minute.

When everybody was ready to celebrate Stellenbosch’ Premiership maiden win, Karabo Tshepe [93min.] spoiled the party with an equalizer: 2-2.

At Mandela Bay stadium, it ended in a 0-0 stalemate between Chippa United at home and Bloemfontein Celtic.
