South Africa – At least 12 people [ten of which are South Africans] have died since the eruption of violent attacks two weeks ago, the Minister of the Police  Bheki Cele has confirmed.

In Cape Town, GroupUp reports that Super Spar was torched in Philippi and two people died in a stampede while trying to loot stores.

Sporadic unrests are still experienced around Gauteng Province, especially Johannesburg (Jhb). Yesterday, a disgruntled crowd of hostel dwellers broke out from an Inkata Freedom Party (IFP) rally addressed by its former leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi in Jeppetown, Jhb, marching in the CBD demanding foreigners to leave the country.

Jhb is still very much a volatile city as authorities try to battle violence and bring the simmering situation under control.
