SA face Zambia in friendly

South Africa’s senior men’s team will travel to Zambia to play a friendly match with Chipolopolo (Zambian national team) on the 7^th of September 2019 in Nkoloma stadium at 15:00 in Lusaka.

The encounter will be the first game the national squad (known as Bafana Bafana) do battle in the pitch since the resignation of the embattled coach Stuart Baxter.

SA Association of Football (SAFA) brought in Molefi Ntseki on interim bases to assume the reigns while SAFA’s search for a permanent head coach carries on. The former teacher [Ntseki] has expressed interest for the job: “my hand is also up” there for the reckoning to become the full-time national team coach. He has coached SAFA development sides like the U-17s  and assisted several Bafana Bafana coaches – Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba, Owen da Gama and Baxter.

Ntseki announced his 23-man SA squad today to start the preparations for the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) 2021 qualification. In November, SA will face Ghana and Sudan in tandem. The new Bafana Bafana force shows nearly 40% changes from the players who were knocked-out by Nigeria in the quarterfinals of the Afcon tournament in Egypt.
